ALFA Bookshop

Open Saturdays 10:30-2:30

On a recent rainy Saturday library patrons lined up for the grand opening of ALFA's new in-library Bookshop. Bookshop committee members enjoyed talking with book-lovers as they perused the shelves and loaded shopping bags with books. With most books in the $1.00-$3.00 range, it's easy to bring home a stack of books. You can find the small, overflowing shop just around the corner from the main entrance. The clean, almost-new books are culled from the library's collections as well as books donated from the community.

Books are arranged using the Dewey Decimal system, so whether you're looking for fiction, or history, or cookbooks, they're easy to find. There are also many, many children's picture books to choose from. Some of the overflow rests on bookshelves and rolling carts just outside the shop. Inside the shop, you'll find Top Shelf Books--collections and autographed editions individually priced. Many more books await in the basement sorting room to fill empty spaces in the shelves, so if you don't find something you want one weekend, come back the next to see what's new. The Bookshop committee has been at work since January sorting and organizing books, and more come in every week.

Donations of gently used books are welcome. Patrons are encouraged to bring them on Saturdays during Bookshop hours. During the week they will be accepted at the main desk, but donors will need to transport the books to the basement on carts provided by library staff. No magazines, encyclopedias, or overly loved books please.
